Russian
MoD warns of multiple mortar attacks against Orthodox churches
to take place on Easter night and to be blamed on Russian
forces.
Yesterday afternoon, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD)
issued a short statement in which it claimed that it had information that
preparations were being completed for multiple mortar attacks to take
place on the night of Easter according to the Orthodox calendar, i.e. on
23-24 April 2022. These attacks would be carried out by mobile units using
‘vans and cross-country vehicles
equipped with mortars’ in the ‘Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy and Kharkov regions’ and would
target Orthodox churches as well as other churches, which would be shelled
to cause ‘numerous victims’. The
attacks would be supported by several countries of the West, with
responsibility for the massacres however to be laid on ‘Russian
servicemen’. Western news agency journalists would be put to
contribution through ‘the filming of
thealleged “Russian
atrocities” and the immediate’ dissemination of these fake stories
through their global news networks.
Given what has already happened in this conflict in terms of
massacres perpetrated by extremists on the Ukrainian side but blamed on
the Russian armed forces by the media of most countries, I believe that
the following warning is most likely genuine – as opposed to being mere
fabrication on the part of the Russian Ministry of Defence for war
purposes.
However, in the hope that this will be the case this time
(i.e., that by seeing their plan being exposed, the would-be perpetrators
will be deterred from carrying it out), I am reposting the communiqué of
Russian Ministry of Defence on my blog as I am convinced that any course
of action that may save lives is worth pursuing.

Emergency Statement of the Joint Coordination
Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine
According to available information, the Kiev regime, with
the support of several Western countries, is completing preparations
for monstrous provocations with numerous victims in Zaporozhye,
Nikolaev, Odessa, Sumy and Kharkov regions. For this purpose, more
than 70 mobile groups were formed from nationalist battalions on vans
and cross-country vehicles equipped with mortars (so-called “traveling
mortars”) with the task of shelling Orthodox churches and churches on
Easter Night (April 23-24, 2022) to accuse Russian servicemen of
massacring civilians on this sacred holiday for believers..
A large number of Western news agency journalists are to
be involved in the filming of the alleged “Russian atrocities” and the
immediate spreading of the fakes by Kiev.
The Ukrainian authorities’ prepared provocations
demonstrate their complete indifference to the fate of their own
citizens.
We call on the United Nations, the OSCE, the
International Committee of the Red Cross and other international
organizations to immediately influence the Kiev regime to prevent this
inhumane provocation that ignores all norms of morality and
international humanitarian law.
We warn the countries of the so-called “civilised West”
led by the US in advance that the Russian Federation has an evidence
base of another terrible crime being prepared by the Kiev regime.
This emergency statement should be published immediately
and reported to the United Nations, the OSCE, the International
Committee of the Red Cross and other international organisations
through all available information resources.
