Summary: some false flags in history; Russia’s warning of a possible false flag against US diplomats posted in Ukraine (includes part of an article published on Russia Today); Alex Christoforou’s take on this story; a few links.

Soon a false flag in Ukraine?

Used throughout history, false flag attacks are part of the deception techniques of war, carried out as they are so that one party can blame another for an event which has usually caused many deaths for the first party, thereby allowing it to stir up emotions and elicit support for military intervention or escalation against the other party (ultimately leading to an exponential increase in the number of deaths on both sides). The word ‘flag’ simply acknowledges that the technique was commonly used in the age of modern piracy, when pirate vessels would fly a friendly flag to capture unsuspecting ships. This technique seems to be very popular with western governments, so that it would take me a few minutes to recall every instance that I have come across since I started to pay more attention to such attacks some time in 2015. A tentative list of mine would include the explosion of the USS Maine in 1898 (which the US government used to start the Spanish-American war of the same year), the sinking of the Lusitania liner off the coast of Ireland in 1915 (so as to draw America into WWI), the so-called Gulf of Tonkin incident of 1964 (which was used to escalate US involvement in Vietnam to the point of a full-blown war), the attacks carried out on the eleventh of September 2001 (so as to give the US government a pretext for invading Afghanistan), similar attempts in Syria (e.g. in April 2017, at Khan Shaykhun) and so forth and so on. And I shall keep quiet about those false flags which failed to produce the results intended by those who had carried them out (e.g. the attack on the USS Liberty by Israeli fighter jets in 1967, the downing of the Malaysian airliner MH17 over Ukraine in 2014, among many such instances…

On Sunday, I heard the independent analyst Alex Christoforou (of The Duran) mention a new type of false flag targets in a geopolitical analysis of his recorded whilst walking around the streets of some part of Athens: American diplomats. Below is my transcript of Mr Christoforou’s comments on this highly dangerous possible future development in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict as well as the first few paragraphs on the same subject taken from an article (the source?) published on the website of the now banned Russian government news provider Russia Today (RT). I shall leave it to the reader to decide whether such claims are true or mere pieces of warfare disinformation propaganda, bearing in mind that false flag operations tend to be acknowledged as such (i.e. as genuine historical events) only many years after they did indeed take place.

TRANSCRIPT

The first thing we need to discuss is what appears to be another false flag attempt. This is according to the Russian Ministry of Defence: their spokesman came out and said that they’ve captured uh a Ukrainian intelligence officer and this officer told them of a plot
I think they also said they have documentation of this as well; I … I don’t know if they … they’ve released that documentation – but this uh Ukrainian intelligence officer told them of a plot to uh take out diplomats in Lvovin, in the west Ukraine, diplomats and the families of diplomats. And they were going to uh … this is … this is going to be done by uh like ultra super right nationalist groups and they were going to take out uh diplomats – western diplomats and their families – and then blame it on the Russians. And uh this was going to take place in the west Ukraine and uh this intelligence officer, according to the uh Russian Ministry of Defence, this intelligence officer said that Kiev was uh in the loop: Kiev knew about this – i.e. the Zelinsky government – they knew about this and uh and they were cool with this. So this uh this false flag – once again, according to Russia, to the Ministry of Defence, this false flag was being prepared – or is being prepared. And uh, yeah, the Russians are uh ... are disclosing this information. Once again, I always say, this is coming from the Russian Ministry of Defence. So … false flags … false flags that’s uh that’s the only way that uh Zelinsky can get out of this. That’s the only way is via false flags. And so … let’s see … let me go up here; this way; I think I’m a little lost … but um alright I know where I am [he is walking while filming himself] but yeah so that was kind of the big news because we’ve been hearing about chemical weapon attacks and the bio-labs and bio attacks, but there’s a new one; this is a new one: taking out western diplomats in uh in the Lvovin area and then blaming on the Russians. Alright, it’s interesting …interesting false flag

EXCERPT FROM AN ARTICLE PUBLISHED BY RUSSIA TODAY (19 March 2022):

Russia warns of ‘false flag’ attack on US diplomats

Information on the alleged plan was provided by a Ukrainian intelligence officer who surrendered

The Russian military claims it has uncovered a plot by Ukrainian hardline nationalist groups to target the diplomatic facilities of the US and other Western nations in the Ukrainian city of Lvov. The alleged discovery was announced by Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov during a media briefing on Saturday.

Washington and many other Western states moved their embassy staff to Lvov shortly before Russia launched its military attack last month. The city, regarded as a hotbed of Ukrainian nationalism, is about 500km (300 miles) west of the capital, Kiev, and just 50km (30 miles) from the Polish border.

The information on the supposed plot was provided by an officer from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), whom Moscow says voluntarily surrendered to Russian forces.

“The officer was directly involved in the organizing and training of sabotage and terrorist groups to work in areas liberated from the nationalists,” Konashenkov stated, adding that the individual had given the Russian military a list of SBU agents involved in such activities.

“I’d like to stress that the Kiev regime is fully aware of the plans harbored by the nationalists, but is doing nothing to prevent them,” he added.
The ultimate goal of the alleged attacks is to blame Moscow for them, using the incidents as leverage to push the NATO countries into providing more weaponry and establishing a long-demanded no-fly zone over the country, Konashenkov claimed.
