This clip should probably not be dismissed as crude Russian military
propaganda given that Ukrainian servicemen are increasingly becoming

Argue whatever you will, say, that it was an instance of so-called
‘friendly fire’ or that the Russians had been given advance warning
thanks to the drone being operated by comrades of theirs (as it
clearly was an ambush) and that they knew that they were being
filmed and therefore evacuated the soldier purely for propaganda
purposes – or worse, that the whole incident was merely staged –,
the facts on the ground – evidence in the form of testimony provided
by civilians or by prisoners of war, footage from drones or from
cameras fixed on the battle gear of Russian soldiers or on their
military vehicles – demonstrates that
the
Russian army is following the Geneva conventions
unlike
some elements of the Ukrainian army (especially the neo-Nazi
units).

He’s one lucky son of a bitch the Russians are
such humanitarians. Look how quick and professional and even
carted his ass off to a field hospital. Ukrainians would have
finished him off for sure or at least watched and laughed as a
Russian dies.

Russia is following the Geneva convention, unlike the Ukrainians
who murder the wounded and cripple POWs.

Interesting to note that they checked the dead for vital and
immediately begun to provide medical assistance. I’ve seen Kiev
forces go straight for the kill. Not even checking vitals, instead
shooting their targets immediately after approaching to confirm
the kill. Difference in fighting styles and human interactions.
Say as you might about how aggressive Russians can be, the fact
they immediately went to provide medical assistance to the
wounded, even if only to capture demonstrates a degree of humanity
still.

Yes, and professionalism. But they are kindred. In Syria I doubt
that the opposing side could expect such courtesy, which is
understandable. Even more of a reason to find a peaceful solution.

TRANSCRIPT OF THE MOST SALIENT
PART:
It’s a positive sign, but it’s almost actually very
damning because what this now
suggests is that the United States is not even serious about
beating Russia. And we knew this, but this proves beyond
a shadow of a doubt that the United
States doesn’t think Ukraine can win. It
doesn’t even want Ukraine to win. This shows that all
the United States is doing by sending their paltry military
support is they just want to kill as many Russians – and
as a consequence, much more Ukrainians – as possible. That’s it. And that’s actually very
damning. And they said this during a press conference this week.
They said, ‘Well, we’re not trying to
prolong the war, we’re
just trying to make it costly’.
And how exactly do you make it more
costly? By prolonging it – that’s exactly … ‘Well,
we’re not trying to prolong it, we’re just trying to make it
more costly’. And … and what
is literally the only way to make it more costly? To make it go
on longer: the longer that the Russians have
to deploy troops, the longer that they have
to be taking casualties, the longer that they have to
be in the war, and replacing equipment, and so
on, maintaining these supply lines into Ukrainian
territory, yeah, the more costly
it’s going to be. That’s literally all that they’re
doing. So, on some sense, it’s even more damning because if they thought Ukraine could win
and if they were pursuing a strategy where Ukraine was going to
come out of this completely independent and perhaps a NATO member,
then they would be giving them
fighter jets; they would be giving them long-range
missiles; they would be giving them the support
that they needed to win
if they thought that they could. But
they know that they can’t win, and so they’re not going
to risk provoking war with Russia. They’re not
going to risk doing that. All
that they’re doing is they’re giving the
Ukrainians just enough to continue to die,
just enough to continue to get bombed and
slaughtered
and … and all that. Just to keep the war going so that
the Russians will lose money.
That’s it. That’s what they’re doing. That’s the strategy. I don’t
think anybody could argue against that at this point – especially
based on this continued restraint about giving the
Ukrainians any serious weaponry. And if that’s
the case, then what does that say
about the United States – which is going to go out there day
after day and talk about war crimes and atrocities? And
they are the only thing keeping the war going. The war would have been over a long
time ago without the United States’ support.
PS
According to the Russian president, the whole
“fuss around”
the additional arms deliveries to Kiev
“serves only one purpose
– to prolong the armed conflict as much as possible.”

Alexander Mercouris, of

stated
a viewpoint similar to
Mr Fuentes’s on 5th June (
‘Biden
White House in search of an off-ramp in Ukraine’):
‘[…] they’re looking for some
way to keep this thing going, to keep Ukraine going, to keep
the war going until after the midterms or until they can find
some way to reframe the whole discussion in the run-up to the
midterms to avoid the appearance of failure, which might be
fatal for the democratic party’s electoral prospects – what’s
left of them. So
that’s, I think, the debate. It’s not about Ukraine, helping
Ukraine. It’s not about ending the war […]’

Given that it is apparent that the

Adam Curtis on demoralisation
My mini-entry of yesterday, in which I made in
passing
a reference to the work of Adam Curtis, reminded me of a glaring
silence on this blog with respect to the
revelations
about Soviet subversion techniques that were made in 1983 by the
Soviet defector Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov (real name: Tomas
Schuman).
Because when Adam Curtis, a documentary-maker who was being given
prime air time on the BBC a decade ago, concluded his brief clip on
the ‘contradictory vaudeville of post-modern politics
’,
what he refused to acknowledge was that what he was describing was
simply the first stage of the
Soviet
subversion techniques Yuri Bezmenov (a Russian defector who
had worked for the USSR’s propaganda machine) had disclosed to the
world:
‘
It sums up the strange mood of
our time, where nothing
really makes any coherent sense. We live with a constant vaudeville of
contradictory stories
that makes it impossible for any
real opposition to emerge because they
can’t counter it with a coherent narrative of their own.
And it means that we as individuals
become ever more powerless, unable to
challenge anything, because we live in a state of confusion
and uncertainty. To which the response is “Oh,
dear”. But that is what they want you to say’.

By the way, the
neo-Bolshevik
who cheated his way to the presidency of the USA, i.e. Joe Biden, to
me seems to be in the very process of applying Bezmenov/
Schuman’s
subversion
quartet
of
demoralisation,
destabilisation,
crisis
and
normalisation to his
own country, the first two stages of which were recently rather
brilliantly captured in a

259 - ‘Meet Adam Curtis, Establishment Contrarian’, 23rd
February 2013, The Corbett Report
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2014/12/31/bbcs_adam_curtis_on_the_contradictory_vaudeville_of_post-modern_politics.html
Lausanne, the two entries above were
posted on the third day of the sixth month of the year two
thousand and twenty-two.
The Corbett Report turned fifteen
yesterday.
On 1st June 2007, James Corbett, a
Canadian who was working as a teacher of English in Japan, broadcast
his first ‘report’ – apparently, on the topic of 9/11 (11th
September 2001). For my part, I came across his work roughly
half-way through the existence of his show, i.e. on 26th January
2015, when I was looking up information on the English
documentary-maker Adam Curtis and a search engine presented me with
a show of James Corbett entitled ‘
Meet
Adam Curtis, Establishment Contrarian’.
James Corbett offers what tends to be a contrarian take on politics,
history, society, economics, etc.,
based
on information primarily retrieved online (which
he calls ‘open-source intelligence’). For
instance, Mr Corbett does
not
believe in man-made climate change; he agrees with the claim
that some are trying to establish a
new
world order, that the
coronavirus
pandemic was a scam and that
there
are some very evil people around who are bent on getting rid of as
many fellow human beings as possible. However, I would
certainly
not
describe James Corbett as being on the far right and
even
less so as what leftists like to label American or European
patriots with a smear phrase very much in the limelight these days,
and one designed to elicit a quasi Pavlovian reaction, i.e., the
dreaded ‘white suprematist’
slur,
because, unless I am mistaken, his son is Eurasian and Mr Corbett is
still based in Japan.
To mark the fifteenth anniversary of the start of his show, James
Corbett came up with a list of fifteen ‘lessons’ learned from his
experience as a broadcaster focusing on contemporary or past events
from the perspective of
a dot-connector
unafraid of interpreting certain world events as
anything but random. So, probably
unsurprisingly, the title of his anniversary show was ‘
15
things I’ve learned in 15 years’.
For Mr Corbett’s list of 15 insights gained over his 15 years in the
business of researching, analysing and interpreting societal,
geopolitical and economic affairs, you will have to open the
following link:
https://www.corbettreport.com/15things.
For my part, I am going to end this mini-entry with a ‘truth’ both
Mr Corbett and I have gained in wanting to convince some of the
people we know that there is more to what is happening – and has
been happening – to the world since, say, 2001 than the artificial
opinion consensus created and disseminated by a few media
conglomerates indeed global in their daily
reach:
Number 13: ‘You can’t wake someone up who’s pretending to be asleep.’
You might remember this insight from Questions
for
Corbett Number 65
on ‘How do I wake up my friends and
family?’, where I was talking about
people who are saying ‘You
know, I’m trying to get my brother interested in this. I’m
trying to convince my co-worker, whatever it is … um
… but they just they … they don’t, you know, they … they’re not
getting it. How do I wake them up?’ The real answer to this
is: ‘It’s not like they …
they’re not sleeping: they … they see what you are saying. They
… they can see the data as well. And whatever mental gymnastics
they’re doing to dismiss that is in their head. You cannot change what is happening in
someone’s head or the way that person is approaching this
information. You can’t change that, you can’t be
the … You
can’t flip that switch for them: if they don’t want to see
something, they will not see it.’ And going
back to the earlier insight about people do not go by their
feelings, not their rational… they don’t rationally think their
way into most of these deep, complex phenomena. They … they sort
of feel them ‘And I don’t …Oh, no, I … I’m not going there.’ And any mental
gymnastic pretzel knot-twist they have to do in order to avoid
that information, they will do. Because, again, they’re
pretending to be asleep. That’s an important one,
that’s an important insight. Not so much as it will help you to
help wake up other people, but so that you don’t take the onus upon yourself:
‘It
is my responsibility what happens in that person’s head’. No, no that … that … that’s
really bad because it ... unfortunately it will lead to heartache
for people. ‘I just … I
can’t get my … my friend to see the truth’ – whatever it is.
